Alex Hattori

1.       The excellence achieved was that Alex Hattori, a young boy the age of 15, became a yo-yo king. At such a young age he has entered many competitions and won many records.

2.       This excellence was achieved because ever since he was 11, Alex has never put down the yo-yo after his classmates sneaked some into school and they played with them on lunchtime. When he was 12 he earned the title of national junior yo-yo champion. He continues to strive for excellence.

3.       Technology could have impacted his arête experience because if he had been more involved in technology that in the yo-yo he would have never dedicated himself to his hobby.

4.       I think this is a great example of an arête experience because he took something that he enjoyed doing and he practiced and practiced until he got it perfect. Now, because of his yo-yo he is able to pay his college tuition. After seeing Hattori actually perform I am extremely inspired because he is so good at what he does and the entire time he was very calm with the occasional smile at the crowd.
